I figured I would give a final update so those of you that hang at this forum will benefit from my experience in case others ask.
The license problem was because zone alarm pro was installing for some reason instead of zone alarm suite which I purchased and what I was trying to install. I had to go into safe mode and dig through my files, directories and registry to remove all remnants of zonealarm. Then when I reinstalled I had ZoneAlarm Suite back and it took my license key. This only solved the problem that happened after trying to fix the problem detailed in the in the first two posts of this thread. This problem, support had no easy answer other then go to msconfig and uncheck all non-ms processes which did not work as suspected. I did a search while waiting for their next suggestion and found this page: http://www.vistaclues.com/always-run...administrator/ As others try to install zonealarm on Windows 7 machines this question will come up more so keep this workaround fix in the back of your mind. I right clicked on the za icon, selected properties and set it to always run as an admin and all is good now. |

Thank you for your feedback.. NOTE: You must download the correct product which you have previously purchased or are licensed for. If you install and your software says it in a 15 day trial, then you have downloaded and installed software which you are not licensed for and must uninstall or you must input your license key or purchase the product when the 15 day trail runs out.

*** Yes you need to install the product you paid for, license key will not work even for the cheaper product, but in my case, even though I was installing ZA Suite, ZA Pro kept installing. After removing everything, every trace, ZA Suite did install. There must have some trace of corrupted data that was triggering a pro install. |

I am also slowly putting together an extreme high end performance computer piece by piece as I find deals that will become my main work/play computer and this one will become a spare household desktop. So that one will be installed Windows 7 fresh as a daisy. As mentioned above I did this with my laptop a few weeks ago and am still reinstalling things after I refreshed it after several years of use (still trying to get it to connect to my wireless printer). After a while, computers just seem to slow down until one is forced to wipe clean and start over. But I digress.... |
