Hello:
I realize this has been posted about elsewhere on these forums. I can only remain signed in to Yahoo Messenger 8.1.0.421 if I turn off IM Security completely. Seems I can then turn it back on to Medium and remain signed in. Chaging connectivity settings in Yahoo Messenger seems to have little effect. I did have an exchange with ZA Tech Support via email about this. They suggested I do a clean uninstall of ZAISS 7.0.470.00 and install ZAISS 7.0.337.000 in its place. From the range of dates I see in posts here of a similar nature, I doubt regressing to an earlier version of ZAISS would fix much. Nor would it be worth it. Wondering if anything further has been learned about this issue with Yahoo Messenger TIA -Eliuri Operating System: Windows XP Pro Software Version: 7.0 Product Name: ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite Message Edited by eliuri on 06-02-2008 11:04 PM |

Same here... Windows Live Messenger does it sometimes.
Yahoo messenger just gets into a loop if IM is turned on. Must be something to do with the way it loads the contacts because I find it does display them briefly only to disconnect and so on. Turn IMsecure off and it will happily load at which point you can then turn it back on and leave it set to medium. Just seems to be a black hole to have a feature that is partially broke! |

Hello,ZoneAlarm suggests leaving IMsecure security option turned off. IMsecure may cause issues and has some compatibility issues. The feature will no longer be supported and will be removed from ZoneAlarm inthe next major release..Forum Moderator

Remember that IM messages are sent as plain text (ie unencrypted) across the Internet and can be captured anywhere between you and your buddy by anyone listening to the traffic passing through their computers.
IMsecure provides third party encryption between buddies for typed messages (but not file transfer, audio or video communications). If you require encrypted communications for sending sensitive information in instant messages, files and audio and video communications, Skype is the only program of its kind that provides those features. Of course Skype is a proprietary protocol and both users must be using it. It is not compatible with MSN, Yahoo or AOL. Skype does not make use of IMsecure. |
